These are the three main reasons we paint our homes. Not only is the exterior the first thing we see when we get home, it’s the first line of defense in protecting what is, for most of us, a major investment. After 30+ years painting exteriors, we have the expertise to properly prep and paint all types of exterior substrates.
What don’t we do? Here is a list of just a few of the exterior painting we do:
With an emphasis on quality team training, thorough site walkthroughs and systems to identify any potential safety hazards, you can rest easy and let the professionals transform the exterior of your home. Up to date insurance is included on every proposal and a fresh WCB clearance letter can be generated at your request!
Vancouver runs from the character-home streets of the west side to the denser, faster-growing blocks of the east side, and we paint exteriors across both. That means pre-war wood siding and stucco in Shaughnessy and Dunbar-Southlands, Vancouver Special-style stucco homes and newer infill in Mount Pleasant and Grandview-Woodland, and everything from beachside cottages near Kitsilano to strata townhomes in Fairview.
Looking for something else in Vancouver? We also handle interior painting and cabinet painting and refinishing across the city.
Vancouver’s west side neighbourhoods, closer to English Bay and the Strait of Georgia, tend to run a touch cooler and catch more marine drizzle than the east side, which sits further from direct ocean influence and typically warms up faster once summer arrives. That split matters for exterior work: character homes with original wood siding in Shaughnessy and Dunbar-Southlands often need a bit more drying time between coats than the stucco and Hardie board homes further east in Mount Pleasant or Renfrew-Collingwood.
We run our exterior season May through early October, sometimes stretching into April or November if the weather holds, and we won’t apply a coating unless overnight temperatures stay above 2°C. Moisture meters get checked on every job before we start, whether it’s a pre-war character home on the west side or a newer stucco build on the east side.
– Character homes with original wood siding in Shaughnessy and Dunbar-Southlands sometimes reveal old caulking failures or bare wood once loose paint is scraped, and that repair needs to dry before primer goes on.
– Strata councils on some condo and townhome buildings in Fairview and Kitsilano like to review exterior colour changes before a crew starts, so it helps to raise this early in the quote process.
– Vancouver Special-style stucco and brick homes across Mount Pleasant and Renfrew-Collingwood can need extra prep on stucco cracks or aging brick trim before a topcoat goes on.
– Homes closer to English Bay in Kitsilano and West Point Grey see more marine air and shade, which can stretch drying time between coats compared with sunnier east side blocks.
It depends on the size of your home, the siding, and how much prep is needed — character homes with original wood siding in Shaughnessy often need more caulking and priming than newer stucco or Hardie board homes in Mount Pleasant. The fair answer is a free on-site estimate: a fixed price covering all labour, materials, and tax, valid for 30 days, that only changes if the scope does.
May through early October is our exterior season, sometimes stretching into April or November if the weather holds. Vancouver’s west side neighbourhoods, closer to English Bay, tend to stay a touch cooler and damper than the east side, so we also need overnight temperatures above 2°C before applying any coating.
We do. Original wood siding and stucco show up often on Vancouver’s older character homes in Kitsilano and Dunbar-Southlands, while Hardie board and stucco are common on Vancouver Special-style homes and newer builds around Mount Pleasant and Renfrew-Collingwood — we prep and coat all of them, including bare-wood priming and caulking where needed.
Most exterior projects run anywhere from a day to two weeks, depending on size, siding condition, and how much repair is needed. A character home in Shaughnessy with detailed trim can sit at the longer end, while a straightforward stucco Vancouver Special in Renfrew-Collingwood is often quicker, and our crew lead confirms the schedule after the estimate.
Yes. Dreamscape carries liability insurance and WorkSafe coverage at all times, holds a business licence for every city we serve including Vancouver, and every exterior project comes with a 3-year warranty on craftsmanship. We’ve been painting Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver exteriors since 1990, so estimators know how west side and east side conditions affect the finish.
We cover Vancouver end to end, from west side character-home streets to east side neighbourhoods, including Kitsilano, Kerrisdale, Dunbar-Southlands, West Point Grey, Shaughnessy, Mount Pleasant, Fairview, Marpole, Grandview-Woodland, Hastings-Sunrise, and Renfrew-Collingwood, plus Riley Park and the blocks around them.
Yes. The same crews cover the neighbouring communities, with the same free 30-day quote: Burnaby, North Vancouver and West Vancouver. Each of those pages covers the local neighbourhoods and the questions homeowners there ask most.
